WELLNESS EXAMS

Routine wellness exams are recommended yearly. These can sometimes find problems that maybe not have been detected previously. As your pet ages, things can change and it's always best to stay ahead of everything to ensure we keep your pets as healthy as possible.

MICROCHIPPING

 

We recommend and offer microchipping of your pet to help ensure that your pet can safely be returned to you in the event that it becomes missing.

 
 
VACCINATIONS

We believe that the best way to help keep your pet healthy is keeping them up to date on their vaccines. Vaccines help prevent many diseases, some that can be life threatening.

SURGERY

 

Routine surgery as well as most emergency surgery is offered. Spay, neuter, declaw, mass removal, intra abdominal surgeries as well as a variety of orthopedic surgeries are available. We also have a traveling surgeon that is able to come in for more intense or complicated surgeries.

Grooming services are available Monday-Friday by appointment only. Please call if you would like to schedule an appointment.

EMERGENCY CARE

 

We offer 24 hour emergency call for after hours emergencies for both small and large animals.

BOARDING

 

Boarding is available for all our clients. We have indoor and outdoor (enclosed within a metal building) kennels available. All dogs are let out 3 times a day to exercise in the fenced in yards.

RADIOLOGY AND ULTRASOUND
​

We offer radiography and Ultrasound services. We also have a radiologist off site that images can be referred to for second opinions and referrals if necessary.

Dental care is very important in preserving your pets teeth and gums. We provide dental cleanings, polishing and extractions (if necessary)

LASER THERAPY
​

We offer laser therapy. This is a technique in which ultrasonic waves are used to help increase blood supply to an area to help promote healing and decrease inflammation and pain. It can be used for a variety of cases; wound management, arthritis, post op healing, and some chronic conditions.

ABOUT

OUR CLINIC

Grey is a 10 year old DSH that was also abandoned with us a kitten  covered in lice. Since then she has lived her life here in luxuary and has served as a blood donor when necessary. She enjoys long naps and watching the outside stray cats and birds pass by.

Veterinary Clinics of Avoyelles was previously owner by Dr. John Fletcher and Dr. Henry Moreau. As of January 1, 2017, it is currently owned and operated by Dr. Krystal Dupre. This practice has been in Marksville for over 20 years. We have friendly and compassionate personnel that offers professional, friendly and compassionate service to our clients and patients. We provide many services including preventative care, routine examines, vaccines, diagnostics with in house blood machines, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, chemotherapy, treatments protocols for various conditions, dental care, radiography, ultrasound, laser therapy, electrocautery, grooming, boarding, and emergency services. We are available for farm calls for large animals for preventative care, herd work, examinations, diagnostics, treatments, as well as emergency care.

Dr. Krystal Dupre

​

Dr. Dupre graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1997. She began working part time for Dr. Fletcher at that time while she attended LSU-A. She transfered to LSU Baton Rouge after a couple of years and finished her degree in Animal Science in 2002. During her time in Baton Rouge, she worked at the LSU Vet School in various departments, including 6 years as an ICU tech. She graduated from LSU Vet School in 2007, she has been a part of VCA since graduation. She has always had a love for animals her entire life. She currently owns 4 dogs, 2 cats, a rabbit, 6 horses and cows. She has 2 children. She enjoys outdoor activities, especially horse back riding.

Dr. John Fletcher

​

​

​

​

Dr. Fletcher graduated from LSU Vet School in 1984, he joined his father, who is a veterinarian, in Bunkie and began working there, after his father retired, he and his brother became partners and practiced for many years before they branched apart from each other. At that time he then partnered up with Dr. Henry Moreau and remained partners with him here until he retired in Decemeber 2016. He still works some relief work here at the clinic when needed. He enjoys any type of sports. He helps coach the local high school football team, coaches little league baseball and is a college basketball referee. He currently has a cat and dog. He is married and has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

Jan Dauzat

​

​

Jan has been a part of VCA for over 20 years, she is the Office manager, Secretary and Receptionist. Jan excels at her position, making sure that things are running as smoothly as possible and that all things are stocked and up to date. She handles all the accounts receivable and does her best to make sure all our clients are happy with their pets' care. She loves spending time with her family and  outdoors. She currently has 1 dog and 1 cat. She is married and has 2 children and her first grandchild.

Amber Nelson

Amber is a vet assistant that has been with us for couple years now, she is a single mom of a little girl. She loves her job and has great compassion for all the animals. She is very dedicated to her job and willing to help out in whatever way she can.

Lauren Anderson

Lauren came to us within the last year and has worked at other vet clinics. She is originally from New Orleans but enjoys the country life. She has great compassion for animals and always willing to help with patients. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Peyton Cathey

 

 

Peyton works part time as a vet assistant. She has volunteered at the shelter in Cottonport and has several pets of her own. She enjoys both large and small animal work. She is a single mom of a little girl and has a boyfriend. She enjoys her job and is always willing to help when needed.
